SIKESTON - Tharon Eugene Stallings, 94, died Nov. 27, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Oct. 25, 1909, in Morley, son of the late Charles A. and Ella Tomlinson Stallings, he attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and the University of Missouri at Columbia and had been a teacher and administrator for 20 years in the Sikeston Public Schools. He had also operated an insurance and real estate business for 20 years and was one of the partners in the Sikeston Auction Company. For several years he was associated with the First National Bank, serving as Chairman of the Board for a time. A member of the First Baptist Church for nearly 60 years, he taught a Sunday school class for about 40 years. He was a past president of the Sikeston Lions Club and had been a member of the Sikeston Jaycees in the early 1930s in addition to being active in many other civic affairs.
On Sept. 1, 1934, at Fredericktown, he married Tylene Kendell who preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1993.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: one son, Kendell Stallings of St. Louis; one sister, Eloise Dixon of Texas; and one granddaughter, Laura Stallings of St. Louis.
A private family service was conducted Nov. 29 at the Sikeston City Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Fansler, interim pastor of the Sikeston Community Church, officiating.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
