SIKESTON - The Sikeston Air Evac Lifeteam base was recently recognized as the Most Improved Base of the Year during Air Evac's 2006 Homecoming celebration, held at the company's headquarters in West Plains. The base was chosen from 64 bases in 11 states.

The Most Improved Base of the Year award is presented to the base in Air Evac Lifeteam that has shown the greatest marked improvements in flight volume growth, staff retention and market expansion during the prior 12 months.

"The Sikeston base has been the model of consistency during the past year," said Air Evac Director of Base Operations and award presenter Steve Bassett. "With an increased attention on flight marketing and community outreach education programs, the crew has continually exceeded budgeted calls and helped this base become a major presence in the area.

"The Sikeston crew's knowledge and professionalism, combined with their dedication and tenure with Air Evac, has established a solid credibility with local EMS and health care organizations, making them a viable option and effective partner in patient care for Southeast Missouri," Bassett added. "This crew has risen to the challenges and succeeded through teamwork and commitment to our mission."
