NEW MADRID - In case of disaster, New Madrid will not be without emergency communication services. Doug Foley, county director for the New Madrid Area of Civil Defense, and Bill Klein, the city's emergency management coordinator, explained to the City Council Monday evening that the group is in the process of raising funds for an emergency communication repeater and its installation.

CHARLESTON - New Madrid County Central's fuel tank started to leak - albeit a trickle - midway through the third quarter. It was just enough for Charleston to follow the trail. Then Corey Frazier lit a spark. Frazier exploded for a three-pointer off a designed screen at the third-quarter buzzer to tie the score at 41. The Blue Jays took the lead with the first basket of the fourth quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 52-47 victory in the first round of the Sikeston Invitational Tournament.>
