SIKESTON - Sikeston was visited by a seven-and-a-half foot giant this Monday, who found none of the city's doors, beds or chairs suitable to his extraordinary height. Only 17 years old, Max Palmer is barnstorming the country trying to satisfy a desire for travel.

BENTON - Judge Marshall Craig, of the circuit court, entered an order appointing David E. Blanton, as chairman, with Thomas L. Arnold, of Benton and Dwight Crader of Sikeston, as a committee to arrange for a memorial ceremony honoring the late Roger A. Bailey and Judge O.L. Spencer. Spencer and Bailey will be honored for their outstanding memberships in the Missouri Bar and the Scott County Bar.

NEW MADRID - New Madrid County joined the national and statewide trend, falling into the Republican column on the presidential and gubernatorial elections. On the county level all Democratic officials were unopposed for election. All results, provided by the office of County Clerk Jim W. Farrenburg, are unofficial.

SIKESTON - Stan's Carpet has donated a percentage of its monthly sales to Heartland Christian School. Helen Beardsley presented the money to the students Laura Schuchart, Maggie Pfefferkorn and David Schuchart.
