SIKESTON - Mrs. Ralph Williams was hostess to Meadow Lane Garden Club Friday for installation of officers. The club was honored to have Mrs. E.J. Neinstedt, an accomplished garden club member of Rose Gate Club, install the new officers.


ADVANCE - The $110,000 bond issue proposal for the Advance School District was defeated Tuesday 173 to 246. The vote was light. It required a two-thirds majority vote to carry.

SIKESTON - Four Sikeston residents won first place honors in the Triple Creek Racquetball Tournament last weekend in Poplar Bluff. They were Chris Tursky in the men's open class; Harold McConnell in the men's A class; Mary Wilson, who successfully challenged the competition in the men's B class; and Debbie Tursky in the ladies' B class.

SIKESTON - The Standard Democrat is sponsoring a free concert by the United States Air Force Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Sikeston Field House.


NEW MADRID - New Madrid County Central quarterback Jeremy Dees has led his team to an undefeated, record-setting season. The Eagles, 10-0, will put their season on the line once again Monday night when they travel to Festus (10-1) for a Class 4A quarterfinal matchup.
