Cecil Lape

CHAFFEE - Cecil Lape, 81, died at 5 p.m. Sept. 15, 2004, at his home.

Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Delta, son of the late Albert and Mabel Withers Lape, he retired as a maintenance foreman for the Frisco Railways Company in Chaffee. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and VFW Post 3127 in Chaffee.

On July 29, 1946, he married Wilma L. Nance who preceded him in death on July 1, 1988.

He and Peggy Eftink were married Oct. 10, 1998, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Norma Wondel of O'Fallon; two stepsons, Mike Eftink of Jackson and Jeff Eftink of Chaffee; one stepdaughter, Sandy Simmons of Kelso; two grandchildren, Janet Chandler and Ron Wondel of O'Fallon; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Michele Mareschal and Kenny Chandler of O'Fallon; and one great-great-grandson, Christian Mareschal of O'Fallon.

One brother and three sisters also preceded him in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Darren Larkin, pastor, officiating.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at Union Park Cemetery.
