PUXICO - Bobby E. Whitehead, 69, died Sept. 19, 2004, at the Puxico Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 11, 1934, in Brownwood, son of Nellie Culbertson Whitehead of Puxico and the late Homer J. Whitehead, he lived in Illinois for many years before moving to Puxico two years ago. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic with Klinke Automotive in Granite City, Ill., and veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was first married to Jerrie Bentley and later married Mabel Schroder.
Survivors include: four sons, Larry Whitehead of Madison County, Ill., James Whitehead of Puxico, David Whitehead of Wood River, Ill., and Jeff Whitehead of Cottage Hills, Ill.; three daughters, Diane Littlefield and Lisa Piper of Cottage Hills and Lynn Wesley of Alton, Ill.; one brother, Michael Whitehead of Zalma; four sisters, Wanda Schell, Dorothy Risell and Connie Caldwell of St. Louis and Cora Page of Leora; and 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Whitehead; and one brother, Leland Whitehead.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Tim Hedge of Puxico will officiate.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside military rites at the Balch Cemetery near Zalma.
