Your view: Thanks for giving

Freedom isn't free! The price for freedom requires blood. While many of us aren't actually giving our blood for our neighbor, we are doing our part by giving our blood right here at home - taking pride communitywide! That's just what our community did at our blood drive July 19 at Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church. We not only met our goal, but we exceeded it, thanks to the outpouring of donors.

We give our heartfelt appreciation to the City of Sikeston and its employees for sponsoring the drive. A special thanks to Amy for her hard work.

We would also like to thank all the volunteers who came out and gave their time to ensure a successful drive. The American Red Cross has a passion to save lives, but we can't do it without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving the gift of life, your blood, because help can't wait.

Preserving life calls for sacrifice and we can all do our part, whether it is an army fatigue or rolling up our sleeves every 56 days to keep the blood supply full.

Our next community blood drive will be in September at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. I hope to see you there.
