Miner police officer injured

MINER -- A Miner police officer was injured Tuesday when he was hit by a car while conducting a traffic stop.

According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Billy J. Williams, 52, was working a traffic stop on Tuesday when an eastbound vehicle driven by Henry Cooper, 81, of Sikeston struck the officer and the car he had stopped on the side of the road.

Williams was taken to the Missouri Delta Medical Center by a private vehicle where he was treated for minor injuries. No other information was available at press time and the accident is still under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
