A New Madrid County teenager sustained fatal injuries in a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 9:35 a.m. in Pemiscot County on Highway 61, half a mile south of Route M near Holland, an accident occurred as motorist Bobby R. Johnson, 21, of Caruthersville failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a guard rail cable, a tree and then overturned.
Johnson's passenger, Pamela N. Roberts, 15, of Gideon was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:19 p.m. by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall. The body was taken to a morgue in Hayti.
Johnson and passenger, James M. Cross, 35, of Hayti sustained serious injuries and were taken by air evac to Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tenn. Another passenger, Erica K. Roberts, 17, of Caruthersville received moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to Baptist Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
