Will the person who sells Luzaire cosmetics please leave your number in the paper?

This is to the local roofer here in Sikeston. I am the manager of the business you are referring to. I'm sorry to read that you used to come to our store a lot. I personally think I've got a good crew and am sorry you think they are stupid and not willing to wait on you. I am willing to work with you or anyone else who has trouble with one of my employees. I'm usually at or near the counter if you need to come in and talk about it. Please give me a chance to try to make things right with you or anyone else who might have had trouble with one of my employees. Thank you and everyone else for your past and future business.

There's one thing about these meetings and the problems in Miner and I'm concerned that the citizens aren't being made aware of it. Why doesn't the city post the meetings in the paper?

There's no joke about it that all of our problems today stem from the Clinton administration. He first caused hatred between the blacks and whites and Al Gore left his mark in the Florida election. Bill Clinton went on one year vacation, he and Hillary, so we Americans are paying for all his mistakes now. The world could be destroyed because of all this. Bill Clinton is an evil-minded person and is no better than bin-Laden. He's a pervert. This country will have to use its strongest war weapons in order to survive, so we may as well do it.

I'm calling about the video store who the caller complained because the people there made part of a stand for not promoting obscene movies. Part of a stand is better than no stand at all and I appreciate them for having Christian videos.

I am a parent and just want to say that I saw a school bus driver for Sikeston Public Schools smoking a cigarette while there were children on the bus. Is this appropriate?

I read your editorial on "Are medals the best we can do for vets?" I am over 80 years old and spent quite a bit of time in World War II and I thought they were crazy about giving out medals to World War II veterans? What are we going to do with them? We can't wear them anyplace; we can't show them off. What few medals I got, my kids and grandkids have rummaged through them and I can't even find half of them anymore. What were they thinking about, giving you medals? I just don't understand it. They would be best just to have left that medal business alone.

The awards are nice for the World War II vets and they deserve them, but there is still so much unfinished business. All vets are promised a bonus for their time spent in the war. Most states have already paid - but not Missouri and a few other states. Why have we been forgotten? We put our lives on the line for our country, leaving many family members behind. I am a Korean vet and received a Purple Heart and several Battle Stars. It's not the money I'm worried about - it's the principle. It makes me wonder if the award ceremony for the World War II veterans was more for the politicians than the vets. It feels as though we have been forgotten.

This is in reply to the writer to SpeakOut who asked about the ever-popular gang from Afghanistan and their game of goat-ball. I'm rather relieved to pass on the information that, officially, there will be no goatball at the Olympics in Salt Lake City this year. One of their officials is a dear friend of mine, and, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, couldn't give me any information as to why it wouldn't be included. I am a Salt Lake City reader.
