CHAFFEE - Anna Mae Halter, 74, died at 2:56 a.m. Feb. 3, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 19, 1929, in Chaffee, daughter of the late Levi Andrew and Nettie Thresa Schwepker Miller, she owned and operated Dairy Queen in Chaffee from 1978 until retiring in 1997. A member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, she was also a member of St. Ann Sodality, VFW Auxiliary 3127 in Chaffee and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary in Cape Girardeau.
On Oct. 19, 1954, she married Clarence Halter who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mike Halter of Cape Girardeau and Clem Halter of Oriole; three daughters, Linda Yarbro and Laura Estes of Chaffee and Pat Halter of St. Louis; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where parish prayers at 7 p.m. will be followed by Knights of Columbus Auxiliary prayers at 7:15 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Revs. Normand Varone and Ralph Duffner officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery at New Hamburg.
Pallbearers will be: Tom Halter, David Halter, Ray Hendrickson, Jerome Backfisch, Jim Hunt and Brandon Beninati.
