BROSELEY - The Sikeston freshman basketball team closed out their season with a 52-40 win against Twin Rivers on Monday night in Broseley.
Sikeston finishes its season 8-6 despite having two players playing up on the junior varsity and varsity this year.
"After losing our top two players to the junior varsity and varsity, we had a tough task ahead of us and they responded," said Sikeston ninth grade coach Chris Sarakas. "They showed they can play as a team and work through things."
Sikeston led 11-8 after one quarter and 20-19 at the half. The pulled away in the third quarter and led 39-29 entering the final frame.
Tarryl Booker led all scorers with 19 points. Josh Jackson had 12 points.
"I wanted to get the ball down low to Tarryl and Joe (Moore)," said Sarakas. "Josh came up and hit some big shots. It worked out for the best. This was our last game. They came out and played hard and they worked hard. They finished up the season strong."
