GORDONVILLE -- A Scott County woman sustained fatal injuries after the car she was riding in collided head on with another vehicle early Friday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 6:36 p.m. in Cape Girardeau County on Highway 25, two miles south of Gordonville, as southbound motorist Michael W. Berry, 25, of Sedgewickville made an improper pass and struck the northbound vehicle driven by Darren E. Larkin, 39, of Chaffee head on.
Larkin's passenger-wife Rebecca R. Larkin, 36, was pronounced dead a the scene at 7:30 p.m. by Cape County Coroner Mike Hurst. She was taken to Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel.
Larkin sustained serious injuries and was taken by Arch Air helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was later transported to St. Louis University Hospital. Berry and his passenger, Michael A. Howe, 20, of Cape Girardeau also received serious injuries and were taken by Arch Air to St. Francis Medical Center.
