Eighth graders win first game

CHARLESTON -- Sikeston's eighth grade basketball team opened its season with a win over Charleston on Tuesday.

Jessica McCray scored a game-high 20 points, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a 42-12 victory. Fisher paced Charleston with eight points.

In the B-game, Charleston defeated Sikeston 45-16. Fisher scored 17 points for the Lady Bluejays, followed by Mitchell with 12 and Walker with 11. Lindsey Sterling led Sikeston with nine points.

Sikeston (1-0) will host Poplar Bluff tonight at the middle school at 6 p.m.
