SIKESTON - More than $70,000 had been raised to pay initial costs incident in the following construction of Missouri Delta Community Hospital Monday at noon. Only $5,000 additional will be required to shoot the mercury in front of the Board of Public Works office past the $75,000 goal set.

SIKESTON - In magistrate court here this morning, Judge M.E. Montgomery set Wednesday, May 16, for a preliminary hearing in the case of W.L. Schuerenberg, Sikeston businessman, charged with assault with a dangerous and deadly weapon with intent to kill or do great bodily harm and set bond at $1,000.

MINER - Twelve Miner residents have filed for positions on the town board of Miner The positions will be filled during the June 8 special election. Candidates for mayor are Mac Able, L.H. Moore and Bill James. Two aldermen will also be elected from each ward of the city. Candidates are L.F. Wheeler, Bill Wooley, Terry Cole, Nancy Galemore and Don Merideth for Ward One. Ward Two candidates are Kenneth J. Parker, Bill Newton, Betty Barnes and Tom Mitchell.

SIKESTON - The winners of the Standard Democrat Easter Coloring Contest were recently named. In the 4-6-year-old category, David Chinnaudrai took first place, Russ Ganus won second and Alana Cantrell took third. Richie Corder was first in the 7-9-year-old category, with Dustin McDonald in second and Lindsey Cox, third. The 10-12-year-old contest was won by first place Jamee Gallamore, Lucy Thurston in second place and Johnnie Patterson in third.


SIKESTON - The class of 1967 is making arrangements for a 25th class reunion in July.
