DEXTER - Mary "Elizabeth" Carroll became the bride of Joseph Donald "Joe" Ouderkirk in a ceremony June 8, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. The Rev. Fred Leist performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dean and Carolyn Carroll of Dexter and granddaughter of Billie Carroll, J.C. Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hill of Sikeston.
The bridegroom is the son of Floyd and Judy Ouderkirk and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Currence and Betty Parks, all of Eldon.
Music for the occasion was provided by pianist/organist Maryruth Boone and soloist Clay Carroll.
The bride was escorted by her father and bridesmaids were Monica Gaylord and Hilary Pyle of Cape Girardeau and Alecia Walters of Sikeston, cousin of the bride. Flower girls were Samantha Hill of Kansas City, cousin of the bride and Caroline Goessling of Dexter.
Serving as groomsmen were Damon Gatewood of Kansas City, Ron Greenway of Springfield and Clay Carroll of Dexter.
Sarah Watkins and Rachael Watkins of Dexter served as candlelighters. Attending the guest book was Andrea Walters, cousin of the bride, and program attendant was Emma Powell.
The wedding reception was held at Divas of Dining in Dexter.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the bridegroom's parents, was held at Mollie's in Cape Girardeau.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple is making their home in Cape Girardeau.
The new Mrs. Ouderkirk is a 2001 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, the bridegroom is employed by Circuit City in Cape Girardeau.
