COLUMBIA -- Five Sikeston Bulldog wrestlers made the trek to Columbia today to vie for a Class 2 state wrestling title over the weekend.

"We believe that we can get two or three guys to place and two or three guys to win some matches and score some points for us," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss earlier in the week. "That's what we're shooting for."

All the Sikeston wrestlers will face tough tests in the opening round.

* In the 135 pound division, senior Kyle Weeks (36-7) will take on Eddie Rose of St. Clair in the first round. Rose, a senior, enters the competition with a record of 20-7. Weeks finished third place in the sectional at Farmington last weekend.

* In the 160 pound class, sectional runner-up senior Lance Berry (36-5) will take on Branson's Mickey Pitman. The junior will enter the match with a 42-6 record.

Andy Croxford
* In the 171 pound division, senior Scotty Keenan will take on sophomore Joe Henson from Platte County. Keenan, who finished third in the sectional, has a record of 34-7 while Henson brings in a record of 29-11.

* In the 215 pound class, Sikeston senior Andy Croxford (27-16) will go against Frank Hebert of Neosho. Hebert, a junior, has a record of 32-11.

* In the 275 pound division, junior Joe Johnson (36-8) takes on Robby Dingman of Raytown South. Dingman a junior has a record of 42-1.
