CAPE GIRARDEAU - Louise "Clara" Glastetter, 88, died at 10:46 p.m. Sept. 20, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born Aug. 21, 1916, in New Hamburg, daughter of the late Joseph William and Rose Margaret Wiedefeld Backfisch, she was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. She had been a cook for Cape Girardeau area restaurants, for the old St. Francis Hospital and the Rainbow Drive-In at Scott City.
On Nov. 22, 1938, at New Hamburg, she married Michael Anton Litzler who preceded her in death on March 23, 1942. She and Leon Glastetter were married May 17, 1947, in Benton and he died March 17, 1971.
Survivors include: four sons, Ronald Litzler of East Alton, Ill., James Glastetter of New Hamburg, Ray Glastetter of Jackson and Dennis Glastetter of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Janet Carroll of Kelso and Betty Rabbitt of Waynesville; three sisters, Johanna Schwartz of Cape Girardeau, Bertha Glastetter of Kelso and Ann Brockmeyer of Lemay; and 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
One son, four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton with parish prayers recited at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone and the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter City Cemetery.
