CHARLESTON - Bertha A. Thurman, 85, died at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 3, 2004, in the Bertrand Nursing Center.
Born April 11, 1919, in Loretta, Tenn., daughter of the late John Daniel and Kizzie Comer Littrell, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. A retired employee of the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, she attended the Church of Nazarene in Charleston.
On Sept. 22, 1938, she married Boydie Thurman, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1988.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Janie Thurman of Sikeston; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Ann and David Oliver and Darlene and Wendell Williams of Charleston; and five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
One grandson, Mark Butler, eight brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation is at 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. John Bouldrey of the First Church of the Nazarene of Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
