SIKESTON - Ronald Nelson Schumer, 67, formerly of Scott City, died at 10:40 a.m. Dec. 21, 2003, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 14, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Roy Buford and Ruby Gaither Schumer, he was a grocer for the A&P Tea Company in Cape Girardeau and Scott City IGA before retiring. A member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, he was a former member of the Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City where he had served as a deacon. He was also a past member of the Scott City Kiwanis Club.
On Jan. 21, 1967, in Cape Girardeau, he married Gloria Irene Naes who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Joseph and Amy Schumer of Falls Church, Va., and Dr. Matthew and Kristi Schumer of Jackson; three grandsons, Jonathan Schumer, Colin Schumer and Nathaniel Schumer; and one granddaughter, Katherine Schumer.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Patrick Tankersley will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
