SIKESTON - Playing on a foreign and larger court and against faster players, the Bulldogs were completely outplayed by the Cape Tigers, who overshadowed them by a margin of 30-16 Thursday. High scorer for Sikeston was Moll with six points.

CHARLESTON - Rep. Betty Hearnes (D-Charleston) announced her candidacy for House Majority Floor Leader. Now serving her third term in the Missouri Legislature, Mrs. Hearnes said "fairness and impartiality" were the basic qualities needed for the position.

SIKESTON - Area Southeast Missouri State University students have received student teaching assignments this semester in the region. Four students from Sikeston will teach at area schools. Stephanie Lankheit will teach children with learning disabilities at Southwest Elementary School in Dexter. She will also teach educable mentally handicapped second grade children at Southwest Elementary School in Sikeston. Crystie Drake will teach seventh grade social studies at Dexter Middle School and history at New Madrid County Central High School. Andrew Comstock will teach biology at Hill Middle School and chemistry at New Madrid County Central High School and Theresa Rowland will teach kindergarten at Kelly Elementary School in Benton and third grade at Matthews Elementary School.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Chamber of Commerce membership welcomed three new members to their Board of Directors at Thursday's luncheon. Elected were Steve Ferrell, Mike Marshall and Delores Knuckles.
