"This is the biggest meet we go to and it was a good way to end the season," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "We broke several meet and school records so I was very pleased with the way we ran."
Most of the records came in the eighth grade boys division where Sikeston took first in the 10-team field.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Dominic McCray, Brandon Wright, Brandon Washington and Bryan Branion, took first with a time of 1:38.18, good enough for a new school and meet record.
The 4x100 team of Dominic McCray, Bryan Branion, Brandon Washington and Tommie Strong also set a meet record of 47.00.
Chase Johnson finished first in the 800, setting a school and meet record with a time of 2:09.9.
Other first place finishers in the eighth grade boys division were Bryan Branion in the 100 and Tommie Strong in the long jump and triple jump.
The Sikeston eighth grade girls finished third but Martika Davis left her mark by setting a school record in the triple jump at 29'8 1/2," good enough for third place. She placed first in the long jump while also winning were Laura Atchison in the pole vault and the 4x200-meter relay team.
In the seventh grade girls division, Sikeston finished fourth with the 4x200 relay team the only winner in the division.
In the seventh grade boys division, Sikeston took fourth, seeing Michael Brown win the 100-meter hurdles and Timmy Hart the triple jump.
Dee Cox placed first in the long jump in the ninth grade boys division where the Sikeston team took fourth.
