CHAFFEE - Mary Frances Burnett, 83, died May 12, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 4, 1920, in Chaffee, daughter of the late Luther Jefferson and Bertha Frances Maddox King Sr., she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chaffee. She retired as secretary for the Chaffee Grade School and had taught music and piano in schools and provided private lessons in her home for hundreds of students. In addition to directing church choirs and community choirs, she directed the 1955 Golden Jubilee celebration in Chaffee. A member of Chaffee PEO Sisterhood, she was also a member of the Chaffee Historical Society-Chaffee Alumni. She wrote and directed the Business and Professional Woman's alumni program.

On Oct. 5, 1947, she married Jack T. Burnett.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Cindy Burnett of Chaffee; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dr. David Pfefferkorn of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Molly Rebecca Noe and Doyle Noe of Sikeston, Jessie Marie Vollink and Tim Vollink of Cape Girardeau, Corrie Jo Pfefferkorn and Abby Jane Pfefferkorn of Sikeston, Samuel King Burnett of Chaffee and Maggie Leigh Pfefferkorn of Sikeston; five great-grandchildren, Brylie Rebecca Noe, Kylie Deigh Noe, Ellie Elizabeth Noe and Jackson David Bell of Sikeston and Conner Michael Vollink of Cape Girardeau; and one sister-in-law, Vonda King of Dallas, Texas.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Leona Rebecca King; and one brother, L. Jeff King Jr.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Chaffee, which will be preceded by a musical prelude at 1:40 p.m. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate assisted by the Rev. Marty Blakey.

Burial will follow in Union Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Sam Burnett, Thomas Grimsley, Wayne Noe, David Summers, Donnie Reischman and Mike Harris.
