Ensuring protesters' rights costs millions

In today's frightening atmosphere of terrorism, security measures are being analyzed, improved and expanded. Perhaps that's the price we pay in an unstable world. But even with the heightened security required in airports and around government facilities, the cost of providing security at the upcoming political conventions for the Republicans and Democrats is truly staggering. An early estimate puts the cost of crowd control and terrorism security at over $140 million for the two, four-day conventions scheduled for late summer.
