SIKESTON -- US Bank took fourth place in the Junior Babe Ruth League this year, finishing with a record of 9-4.
The squad went on to win its first two games in the year-end tournament before losing a heartbreaker to First National Bank in the championship.
"It was a real good year," said US Bank coach Stan Ivie. "There was a four-way tie for first for several weeks, then a four-way tie for second for several weeks. We had some good matchups."
US Bank put together a six game winning streak in the regular season. First National Bank was the only team that could beat them twice.
"It was a great bunch of kids," said Ivie. "We had a lot of fun."
Tyler Brooks and Andy Gantner pitched most of the year, and Joey Williams was behind the plate.
Stan Ivie played first, Josh Jackson was at second, Gantner was at short and Mitchell Freeman played third. Blake Walker, Gerald Winfield and Chris Vaughn all played the outfield.
Ivie, Jackson and Winfield all made the all-star team. Williams was the most improved player on US Bank.
"The whole team was made up of gutsy players," said Ivie.
