SIKESTON - Glad tidings issued from University of Missouri when a researcher said state employment figures would continue rising into next year. Missouri's labor force will grow while the unemployment rate steadily drops, said Ed Robb, director of the university's College of Business. J.R. Grimsley, manager of Sikeston's Job Service office, expressed his optimism a bit more guardedly. "That's the kind of prediction I don't make," he said. "All I can tell you is, at the office, we have been busier than we have been for quite some time, but it's the kind of busy we like to be. We like to have something to offer people when they come in looking for jobs."

SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Medical Center received a $50,000 donation from the 1993 Hospital Ball committee. Chairpersons for the annual affair were Beth Marshall and Janie Kaiser.
