SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Elrod of Jonesboro, Ark., are the parents of a son born on Aug. 4. This is their second child. Mrs. Elrod is a former Sikeston resident and past employee of The Daily Standard.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Kermit McFadden of Oakland, Calif., are parents of a daughter born Sunday. Mrs. McFadden is the former Waleva Bridges of Sikeston.
SIKESTON - After 51 years of publishing a newspaper by letter press printing method, The Daily Sikeston Standard goes modern Monday. The first edition of The Standard printed offset will appear Monday. The publishers are confident their reader family will be pleased with the change in type face and arrangement.
SIKESTON - Lee Greenwood will be featured at Friday at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.
MINER - Marie Bridges is the Resident of the Month for August at the Miner Nursing Center. She has been a resident there since July 13, 1989, and says she likes it very much. Her hobbies include crafts, sewing, reading, crocheting and watching television.

CHARLESTON - The 1994-95 Gordon Galemore Endowment Scholarship has been awarded to Deidre Marie DeLaney, 20-year-old daughter of Donna DeLaney Adams and the late George L. "Joe" DeLaney. To qualify for the scholarship, each applicant must have graduated from either Charleston, East Prairie or Kelly high schools and must be academically ranked in the upper part of his or her graduating class.
