SIKESTON - During a three-day Missouri Junior Chamber of Commerce state board meeting here, Jaycees are formulating plans for the 1964-65 school year. One aspect of the meeting will be on mental retardation. The meeting, which opened Thursday, closes Sunday.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Junior Miss Rodeo Queen Pageant was conducted Tuesday night at the Kingsway Plaza Mall. Ann Marie Cook, 15-year-old daughter of Jim and Jamie Cook of Dexter Route 1, was crowned queen. First runner-up was Anna Catherine "Kaki" LaValle, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaValle of New Madrid and second runner-up was Caroline Chamberlain, 16, daughter of Burt and Anne Rowe of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Band director Ed Cowan will be the ninth grade and Sikeston Senior High School Band director. Longtime director Pat Curry has requested to change positions with Cowan, who was the Middle School director.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Kmart will host singer Martina McBride from noon -1 p.m. Friday in conjunction with her performance at the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. Her new release, The Way That I Am, will be available on CD and cassette at a discounted rate, and McBride will sign free autographs.
