SIKESTON - The Kingsway Mall received the Pride Award Tuesday night during the monthly luncheon of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented in recognition of recent improvements made at the mall.

SIKESTON - Shoppers in Sikeston will have free parking from now until Christmas, courtesy of the city of Sikeston. The city has adopted a policy that all meters will be covered during this period for the convenience of the shoppers.

SIKESTON - Area merchants and residents are busy preparing for the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce's "Twelve Nights of Christmas." "Lights are already going up all over town," said Steve McPheeters, Chamber board member. "Both residents and merchants are putting on the final touches before the tours begin."

SIKESTON - December's Standard Democrat Calendar Girl Leslie Evans is ready for the glitter and glow of the holidays. Miss Evans, the winner of the 1993 Miss Sikeston Contest, is the daughter of Terry and Bonnie Evans and a senior at Sikeston High school. Following graduation in May, she plans to attend college and major in biology.
