The Sikeston Bootheel Humane Society would like to congratulate the winners of our first annual raffle ticket fund-raiser. The raffle drawing took place at Sikeston Market Place at 3 p.m. on March 15. The $10,000 winner is Kent Ferguson of Sikeston; the two $5,000 winners are Mike Williams of Matthews and Ginna Young-Newton of Arlington, Va.; and the five $1,000 winners are Jim Gleason, Eric Lambert, Carolyn Lee, Gary Ozment and Mike McReynolds, all from Sikeston.

We would also like to thank the following businesses and persons for their help in making this a very successful fund-raiser for the Humane Society. Our very special thanks to Mike Riney and the Sikeston Market Place for selling tickets in the store and for hosting the drawing. A special thank you also to Bill Powers and Zimmer Radio Group for their help with public service announcements, the live remote and to their KSIM and KLSC radio stations and talented radio personalities J.J. and C.J., and announcing the winners on the air.

Thank you to the following who allowed us to sell tickets and show our animals in their businesses: Jim Gooch and Feeders Supply; Ken Brinks and Orscheln Farm and Home Supply; James Miller and Wal-Mart; and Mike Riney and the Sikeston Market Place for allowing us, time after time, to come in and sell the tickets, selling tickets for us and adding our fund-raiser to the weekly advertisement. Thank you also to Danny Bridger of Danny's Place and Phil Brensen of Jeremiah's for allowing us to sell tickets in their establishments.

The following persons and organizations spent many hours of their own time to help us with advertising, sell tickets, or perhaps they bought more tickets than they needed just to help the cause. They are the following: Mary Lee and the Lilbourn VFW Auxiliary; Sikeston Elks Lodge 2319; Dr. Nat Snider, Jack Garland, Ricky Huls, Chip Hileman, Ken Fowler, Chris Stinnett, Kenny Stokes, Jim McClure, Bo Ozment, Carrie Yansen, Ann Matthews, Karen Williams, Nora Statler, Nancy Montange, Kelly Baker, Cheryl Parker, Debbie Evans, Penny Northern, Dr. Steve Williams and staff, Jackie Groves and James Beavers.

We are truly grateful for the support we received during this critical fund-raiser from the community and the area and we thank you for helping to keep our doors open for all of the homeless and abused animals.
