SIKESTON - After banging a single and scoring two runs in the first game, Sikeston's Mike Hurley tripled to lead off the second game against Paducah Tilghman. As Hurley slid into third base, the ball got by the fielder, allowing Hurley to trot home with the first run in the Bulldogs' 5-4 victory.
SIKESTON - The sign-up period for the 1982 feed grain, wheat and cotton programs ended April 16 with 85 percent of the farmers in New Madrid County, 70 percent of the farmers in Scott and Mississippi counties and 64 percent of the farmers in Stoddard County signing an intention to participate in crop reduction.
SIKESTON - The largest Eagle Aerie in the State of Missouri - Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319 - will celebrate its 25th anniversary with the international organization's top official. William P. "Pete" Harty of Las Cruces, N.M., the grand worthy conductor of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, will attend a special initiation at 3 p.m. Saturday for new Eagles Club members and a 6 p.m. banquet planned as part of the anniversary celebration.
