BLOOMFIELD - Harold Alfred "Smokey" Heilman, 76, died Jan. 15, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Jan. 13, 1929, in St. Louis, son of the late Alfred and Bernice Clements Heilman, he retired from the Bloomfield School District. He was affiliated with the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia.
On Sept. 27, 1975, he married Shannon Long who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Phillip Heilman of Odessa, Texas, and Keith Heilman of St. Louis; two daughters, Sandie Davidson of Odessa and Patricia Panneri of Alpharetta, Ga.; one brother, Richard Heilman of Huntsville, Ala.; one stepbrother, Penrod Piel; one stepsister, Mary Piel; and four grandsons. He and his wife were foster parents of 15 children between 1975-83.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Heilman in infancy; and his stepmother, one sister and one son-in-law.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dan Sitze will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
