SIKESTON - Sikeston General Hospital. Mrs. Lawrence Cleek was dismissed Tuesday after undergoing a minor operation.
SIKESTON - Mrs. Lorraine Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor, has been notified of her acceptance at Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau. Miss Taylor, a 1962 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School, will major in elementary education.

GRANT CITY - When the Rev. Marvin Butrum walked into Carpenter Cemetery 10 years ago this month, he knew he had his work cut out for him. He gazed at the "wilderness" that had grown up and covered the plot through more than a century of neglect and he made a promise to himself. "I told myself that somebody had to clean this place up." And so the cleanup began. Now it's nearly finished. "Now, our mission is accomplished. I vow to never, ever let it grow up like that again. I want to make sure it stays maintained. And that's the new crusade for Butrum, who has ministered at Sikeston's Temple Baptist Church for more than 20 years.
