SIKESTON - Selling of lockers in Advance by the Food Lockers Inc. in Sikeston has been continuing this week with indications pointing to the company's early securing of enough locker sales to allow building of the plant.
SIKESTON - 4-H Baby Beef winner was David Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Bird of Route 2, whose animal brought the top prize at the Sikeston Auction Co. sale Saturday afternoon.
SIKESTON - Pat Halstead filed Wednesday for the Sikeston City Council. He was the first candidate to file for the two seats available. The city primary election is scheduled Feb. 7, 1984, and the general election will be April 3. The terms of Mayor Kenny Bridger and Councilman Lewis Conley will be up in April.
NEW MADRID - The city of New Madrid was recently honored with a municipal award by Gov. Mel Carnahan and the Missouri Department of Conservation for outstanding tree planting projects. The governor's Town Treescape Awards were presented at the Missouri Community Betterment Conference on Oct. 25 in Columbia with the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
