CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Sikeston defeated Farmington 3-0 in the Cape Central junior varsity soccer tournament on Tuesday.
Trey Stone scored just 11 minutes into the match off an assist from Jeff Hay. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Kyle Howard scored an unassisted goal at 42 minutes to make it 2-0. Ryan Dukes added another goal at 67 minutes to make it 3-0. Trevor Allfield provided the assist.
"I thought we controlled the game," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "Win Dolan controlled the middle today and dispersed the ball to the right people."
Sikeston outshot Farmington 17-8. Bulldog keeper had seven saves, recording his third shutout of the season. Sikeston (7-6-2) was supposed to play Poplar Bluff today in the tournament, but the Mules forfeited. Sikeston will travel to Bluff on Monday.
