SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Community Hospital Inc. was set up as a permanent organization at a meeting of directors Monday night at the Scott County Milling Company office. Twenty-one directors were named; 10 of them from Sikeston and 11 from other communities to be served by the institution.

40 years ago

SIKESTON - Three of the six delegates from Sikeston to the State D.E. Conference in Jefferson City walked away with high honors Monday. Two of the delegates were elected to state offices and one was elected to the National Leadership Conference. Gene Holden was elected state parliamentarian and Charlotte Taylor was elected state historian. Johnny Erwin was elected as first alternate delegate to the National Leadership Conference to be held in Chicago.

SIKESTON - If a poll conducted the past two weeks by newspapers in the new Eighth Congressional District is any indication, many voters have not made up their minds whether they will vote for incumbent Bill Emerson, the Republican, or challenger Jerry Ford, a Democrat.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees little league football team finished the 1992 season undefeated, 6-0, and league champions. Team members are: Chris French, Cory Gipson, Ryan Carter, Brad Couch, Blake Couch, Mike Tullis, Clay Mattison, Chad Jennings, Justin Turner, Ben Presson, Sam Sanders, Doug Grojean, J.D. Steward, Eric Matney, Nick Barnes, Jim Carr, Zac Weeks, Bill Rogers, Michael Bell, Mitchell Sharp, John Angelle, Barry Johnson, Darrius Nicholson and Lerin Hester. Coaches for the champs are Tom Henzi, Chris Steward and Scott Bogle.
