MOREHOUSE - Sgt. Auston J. Breedon, 405th Infantry Regiment Squad leader from Morehouse, has been awarded the Bronze Star medal for heroic achievement in Germany in connection with military operations against the enemy.
SIKESTON - At a Cub Pack Blue and Gold Banquet at Lee Hunter School Tuesday night, about 100 Cub Scouts and their parents were present for the awards given to 35 boys of Cub Pack 40. Franklin Stuwe was master of ceremonies, with Pat Groves in charge of the awards, and also recognized the den mothers for their fine work.
SIKESTON - The Telephone Pioneers donated $100 to the Altrusa Club's Give-
A-Meal program. Shirley Sadegh, treasurer of the Telephone Pioneers, made the donation during Altrusa's Feb. 12 noon meeting. The funds will be used to provide hot meals to the homebound elderly.
SIKESTON - Cape Girardeau Central and Sikeston will battle again in the Class 4A, District 1 championship contest. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cujo's Place. Sikeston (21-3) beat the Tigers (21-5) 81-73 on Feb. 10 at Cujo's Place. Allen Hatchett led the Bulldogs in that game with 29 points.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Elks Lodge No. 2319 will host its 11th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner and Dance on Feb. 25. Activities include: social hour, dinner, program and dance. The Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award will be presented following the dinner along with the keynote speaker, Edward D. Robertson Jr., judge of the Supreme Court. All area law enforcement personnel and their spouses are invited to attend.
