BELL CITY -- Jesse Michael Barnes, 62, died March 2, 2003, at his home near Bell City.
Born July 30, 1940, in Jackson, Tenn., son of the late Jesse and Inez Holloway Barnes, he taught school at Bell City for 14 years and was principal at Bell City High School for three years. For the past 24 years, he worked for the Missouri Division of Employment in Sikeston. A member of the Bell City United Methodist Church, he was also a member of Lakeview Lodge 489 AF&AM at Bell City and BPOE Lodge 2439 in Dexter.
On Aug. 21, 1965, he married Vivian Lee who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Jennifer Barnes of Dexter; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Hampton of Sikeston; one brother, Bill Barnes of Jackson, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Logan Hampton and Landon Hampton of Sikeston and Lexie Barnes of Dexter; two nieces, Jennifer McMillion of Dexter and Heather O'Relly of Bell City; his mother-in-law, Frances Lee of Bell City; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Linda Zych, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.
