NEW MADRID - Mary Joanne Hunter, 80, died Feb. 26, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in New Madrid.
Born Feb. 6, 1923, in New Madrid, daughter of the late Tom Furg and Mary Catherine "May" Gallivan Hunter, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She owned and operated a store in New Madrid before retiring.
Survivors include: four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jim Digges Hunter of Rolla and John Alfred and Marie Hunter, Gallivan and Martha Hunter and Henry and Mary Ann Hunter of New Madrid; and five nieces and 10 nephews.
Preceding her in death were one sister, Nancy Kaiser; and two brothers, Tom Furg Hunter Jr. and Charles Hunter.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Sunday at Richards Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation is scheduled for 6 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor Mike Swalina officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
