Advance 66, Scott Central 50

ADVANCE - Zach Hudson scored 20 points to lead the Advance Hornets to an 18-7 record and a 66-50 victory over the Scott County Central Braves Friday night.

Hudson scored eight of his points in the fourth period as the Hornets outscored Scott County 20-14 in the frame to put the game out of reach. With the score tied 12-12 after one frame, Hudson tallied seven in the second as Advance built a 27-24 lead at the intermission.

"I felt like we got off to a slow start, but our pressure defense created a lot of offense for us," Advance coach Jim Hall said. "We just pushed the ball at them pretty hard on offense and got the ball inside to Hudson quite a bit."

In the third, Jared Ritter put in six of his 18 points to help the Hornets go up 46-36 heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Tyler Bowman added 10 points in the victory.

Next up for the Hornets is a home game against Leopold this Friday at 6 p.m.

It is the last regular-season game for Advance, who is the top seed in next week's Class 2, District 2 Tournament to be held at Poplar Bluff's Black River Coliseum.

WOODLAND - The Woodland Cardinals defeated Richland 61-39 Friday night as Travis Benfield poured in 27 points and Cody McCraw added 10 in the victory.

Scott McGarity led the Rebels with 11 points on the night, while Blake Waters added nine in the loss. Woodland pulled out a 46-45 win in the junior varsity contest.

PERRYVILLE -- Notre Dame's boys basketball team won't have to worry about practicing free throws going into the district tournament next week after attempting 50 in a 84-58 win at Perryville Friday night.

The Bulldogs (18-7) went 38 of 50 from the free throw line in a game in which both teams were riddled with foul trouble.

Despite the lopsided score, Perryville (5-19) led 16-15 early in the second quarter. The Bulldogs, who were playing without Tyler Cuba, ran into early foul trouble. With several starters on the bench, Notre Dame was able to fight back and led 38-27 at halftime.

"I think the other guys did a good job stepping up," Notre Dame coach Darrin Scott said.

The Bulldogs blew the game open in the third quarter, pushing their lead to 25 midway through the period. Scott said the defense did a good job sticking to its game plan.

"We really tried to contain their penetration," he said. Bryce Willen led the Bulldogs with 19 points. Travis Siebert added 10.

Oran 74, Chaffee 34

CHAFFEE -- Oran hit nine 3-pointers during a romp on the road. Nathan Seyer led the Eagles (18-6) with 21 points. Ryne Wood added 11.

James Reischman paced the Red Devils (5-15) with 16 points. Sam Burnett had 12.

Scott City 78, Senath 55

Tyler Ward, Scott City's 6-foot-8 junior center, scored a career-high 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds and six blocked shots as the Rams won on the road.

The Rams (14-6) also got 14 points from Jeremy Schlosser and 11 from D.J. Walton.

DELTA -- Hot-shooting Leopold rolled to a 40-18 halftime lead and routed host Delta.

The Wildcats received 20 points from Kevin Holzum, 19 from Josh Van de Ven and 15 from Paul Hutchings.

The Bobcats (5-14) were paced by Joey Keys with 15 points. Delta's junior varsity beat Leopold to clinch the Mississippi Valley Conference championship.
