CHAFFEE -- Chaffee followed up Wednesday's huge win with a victory over Charleston on Thursday. The Lady Red Devils won the first set 15-10, lost the second 10-15, then won the third 15-3.
"The biggest thing we're looking for is consistency," said Chaffee coach David Mirly. "When we're playing up, we can beat good teams. When we're not playing up, we can lose to anybody."
Ashton Lee had two digs, one kill, seven points, five aces and 20 assists. Mallory Kiefer had three digs, five kills, nine points and four aces. Molly Fowler finished with two digs, six points and one ace.
Jennifer Vandeven contributed one assist, four digs, eight kills, six points and three aces. Samantha Hendrix had one block, one point and one ace. Lindsey Everett added two kills. Natalie Townsend had four blocks, seven digs, two kills, nine points and one ace. Christine Whitley had one dig. Ashley Graham had four blocks, one assist, four digs, three kills and two points.
"I was proud of the effort tonight," said Mirly. "The girls battled back after losing the second game. They weren't going to be denied."
Chaffee (5-9) will host Sikeston on Oct. 10. Chaffee lost Thursday's junior varsity match in three sets, 12-15, 15-9, 13-15.
ORAN - Area powerhouse Leopold steam rolled over Oran on Thursday night, winning in two sets.
The Lady Wildcats won the first set 15-3 and the second 15-2, improving to 19-2-1 on the year. Oran falls to 6-10-3 and will host NMCC on Tuesday.
