EAST PRAIRIE - 911 has become synonymous with an emergency situation, basically due to the impact nationwide of a television series. Charles Bonney, 911 marketing sales manager with Southwestern Bell Telephone, accompanied by Carolyn Stevens, communications consultant for the company, presented an updated proposal - including a cost breakdown - Tuesday evening to city officials, representatives of law, fire and ambulance services and the local 911 Committee.

SIKESTON - Sikeston's volleyball team cruised to a 15-1, 2-15, 15-0 victory over Richland at the SHS Field House Thursday. Coach Jane Merrick emerged from the win enthused about her first-team play, but worried about communication problems suffered by the juniors in the 2-15 loss. In the 15-0 clincher the starters looked like a fine oiled machine. The score was 9-0 before Richland even got possession of the ball.
