EAST PRAIRIE - A.J. Summerlott, 82, died at 9:45 a.m. April 23, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 9, 1921, in Fisk, daughter of the late Clement Edward and Velva McCain Summerlott, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was a retired farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Baptist belief.
On Dec. 11, 1947, in East Prairie, he married Bealus Mae Bain who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Danny Summerlott and Eddy Summerlott of East Prairie; one daughter, Linda Jackson of East Prairie; three brothers, Jack Summerlott of Sikeston, Gary Summerlott of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bill Summerlott of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Elsie Walters of Portageville; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, A.J. Summerlott Jr.; and five sisters and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home with George White officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Pallbearers will be: Adam Summerlott, Andy Jackson, Terry Jackson, Jay Childers, Tony Childers and Craig Owens.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill Adkison, Gene Ponder, George Bain and Arden Dale Banks.
