EAST PRAIRIE -- Cletus Woodson Atkinson, 73, died at 5 a.m. June 20, 2003, at his residence.
Born Dec. 7, 1929, in Owensby, Tenn., son of the late Woodson and Beauton Riley Atkinson, he was of the Baptist belief and had lived most of his life in East Prairie where he was a retired farmer.
On April 12, 1986, he married June Carol Mayfield who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Chucky Atkinson of East Prairie and Harold Atkinson of Dyess, Ark.; three daughters, Clara Kindle and Vonda Holland of East Prairie and Linda White of Osceola, Ark.; three stepdaughters, Sandra Dominguez of Patterson, N.J., and Misty and Bridgette Hinson of East Prairie; one brother, Eugene Brad Kemp of East Prairie; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Mayfield of Fulton, Ky., and Billy Mayfield of Union City, Tenn.; and 14 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and 13 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Debra Atkinson, and one sister, Elizabeth Atkinson, preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Raymond Linley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Mark White, John Champion, Ricky Faulkner, Randy Laster, Greg White and Eric Chappell.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Harold Clough and Hoyt Sutton.
