SIKESTON - D.H. Smith has announced for re-election as alderman from the South Ward in Sikeston. He is no stranger to the voters in this ward as he has represented them for several terms. It is likely he will have no opposition in his race.

SIKESTON - Ralph Hart, superintendent of schools for the Grayridge-Essex district, said today he expected grading will be started next week on the site for the new Richland High School, for which bids were opened a week ago by the Richland Board of Education.

SIKESTON - After two hours of explanations and discussion on the purchase of the Stallings building for relocation of city offices, the City Council Friday night adjourned for a short executive session and returned to unanimously table the issue until the March 7 council meeting.

SIKESTON - At 15 years old, he has been permanently expelled from school, arrested for shoplifting and burglary, and continues to disappear for days at a time. His parents are at a loss and don't know where to turn. The Bootheel Counseling Services has an answer. The state of Missouri has mandated a new program just for children like the fictitious boy above. The program involves what is called case management. "This kind of counseling worked well for adults so the state decided to try it with children." said Buzz Ferrell, clinical director at the counseling agency.
