SIKESTON - Wintry weather, in its bitterness accentuated by biting winds, came into Sikeston over the weekend, keeping temperatures within an 11-25 degrees above zero range.

Feb. 19, 1963

SIKESTON - Senior Margaret Daugherty was crowned Basketball Queen during the Dexter-Sikeston game in the Armory last Friday night. Marilyn Conrad and Marilyn Grojean, seniors, were named as first and second alternate respectively.

SIKESTON - The first month of this year has fared much better than most of last year as far as the construction industry is concerned. At one time it looked like the construction industry in Sikeston was nearly dead, however in the last two or three months construction has begun to pick up somewhat.


SIKESTON - Joanne Moore, director of nursing at the Missouri Delta Community Hospital, has been elected secretary for the Bootheel Educational Consortium's Executive Advisory Council.

BENTON - Agricultural producers who wish to legally purchase and apply restricted use pesticides must be certified in order to do so. Those Bootheel residents wanting to obtain their certificates can take advantage of several classes sponsored by the University of Missouri's University Extension offices.


SIKESTON - While celebrating the completion of a successful 1992 campaign, United Way officials are already looking at what 1993 will bring. This year's United Way campaign brought in $78,748.78 which will be divided among 17 local agencies to be used to fund their efforts.
