SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. George Dye entertained with a dinner Wednesday in honor of their son Frank's birthday anniversary. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dye and grandson Larry Cannoy; Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Dye of Benton; Mrs. John Russell and Mrs. Maggie Wood of Chicago.


SIKESTON - More than an inch of rain fell in Sikeston Nov. 3 through last Monday.

SIKESTON - Ryan Justin Shipp celebrated his first birthday, which was Oct. 20, with a party on Oct. 23 at his home. The theme of Mickey Mouse was used. Helping him celebrate were Brenda Shipp, his mother; Rhonda and Tracey Pendergrass, Sherry and Bobby Vozar, Charles Ferguson, LeAnn Bradley, Karen Wren, Becky Morris and Teresa Shipp.

NEW MADRID - Students and faculty from New Madrid Elementary School conducted a Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday to honor those who served in the Armed Forces. Attending the event were New Madrid area veterans along with U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson. Mary Beth Westmoreland, eighth grader, recited the "Pledge of Allegiance" to the audience.


SIKESTON - For no apparent reason, Sikeston residents' Falcon Cable TV rates will increase $2.23 per month beginning Jan. 1. The Sikeston City Council was notified of the rate increase - by mail - Wednesday at the group's regular weekly work session. "It's hard to imagine any justification for a rate increase without a letter justifying why," said Councilman Mike Moll.
