BLODGETT - Glen Allen Rice, 79, died at 4:30 a.m. Feb. 25, 2005, at his home.

Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Dyersburg, Tenn., son of the late Charles Rupert and Bonnie Avis Robert Rice, he served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II and had attained the rank of corporal radar mechanic and was honorably discharged on Feb. 14, 1946. He was an electrical utility lineman with REA for 32 years before retiring in 1987. Rice also served as an elder for the Blodgett Church of Christ for many years, where he was a Bible class teacher for the congregation for over 50 years. His knowledge of the Bible and his Christian life was an example and inspiration to all hew knew him.

On Nov. 23, 1961, in Sikeston, he married Christine Wade who survives of the home.

He was the father of eight adopted children, two sons, Russell Rice and Walter Rice of Blodgett; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sue Fodge of Sikeston, Rita and Lynn Vaught and Angela Rice of Blodgett, Emily and Don Hutchinson of Cape Girardeau and Mary and Bobby Hicks of Corning, Ark.; and is also survived by 10 granddaughters and three grandsons.

Preceding him in death were a special daughter, Reneé Rice, on March 3, 1997; and one brother and one sister.

He was a very special husband, dad and grandfather.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Lloyd Boley of Sikeston and Herbert Knight, minister of the Walnut Ridge (Ark.) Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Blodgett Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Earl Wade, Kelles Wade, John Byrd, Mike Barnes, Bill Leeming and Tim Wade.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jason Byrd, Shawn Byrd, Mark Wade, Clay Miller, Joseph Miller, Aaron Wade, Blake Wade, Dale Carter and Todd Kennard.
