HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Mr. and Mrs. James Dabney McMurray Jr. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Ann Hunter, to Graham DeLane Whitehead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith DeLane Whitehead of Charleston.
The future bride is the granddaughter of Viverette Lee of East Prairie, Mrs. James Dabney McMurray of Meridian, Miss., and the late Travis Wade Shelby Jr. and James Dabney McMurray Sr. A graduate of Hattiesburg High School, she graduated from the University of Mississippi. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and served as an officer of the Hattiesburg Debutante Association and was presented as a maid in the Krewe of Zeus. She is a kindergarten teacher with the Shelby County Schools in Memphis, Tenn.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar C. Marshall Jr. of Charleston and Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Whitehead of Advance, Mo. A graduate of Charleston High School, he attended Vanderbilt University and received his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is currently practicing law in Charleston and also plans to practice law in Mississippi.
Wedding plans are being finalized for a 6:30 p.m. ceremony June 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hattiesburg.
